Here's a little timeline of Oda-sensei life:
- 1945 Born in Kunamoto Prefecture, Japan
- 1992 Oda submited his work Wanted and won several prizes, including second place in the coveted Tezuka Award. That got him into a job at the Weekly Shonen Jump
- 1994 He began working as an assistant to Nobujiro Watsuki on Rurouni Kenshin, before winning the Hop Step Award for new manga artists
- 1996 He drew two pirate-themed "one Shot" stories called Romance Down, featuring Monke d. Luffy as the protagonist, who then became the protagonist of One Piece
- 1997 One piece began Serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump and has become not only the most popular manga in Japan, but best-selling manga series of all time. Additionally, individual volumes have broken publishing records in Japan
- 2007 Oda and Akira Toriyama created a crossover one-shot called Cross Epoch that contains characters from Dragon Ball and One Piece
- 2008 In a poll, conducted by marketing research firm Oricon, and Oda was selected fifth most favorite manga artist of Japan sharing the place with important manga artist.
- 2010 The poll, from the same firm, on the mangaka that change the history of manga, Oda came in forth
- 2023 One piece have more than 100 volumes and still publishing more
